Includes a 20 Mar. 1800 order to the Bank of the United States to pay John Mullanphy $250; a 3 Oct. 1809 letter to William T. Barry about taking John Bradford's deposition in suit against John M. Street; and a 19 Dec. 1809 demurrer by Innes' attorneys in a libel suit against Humphrey Marshall, who accused him of involvement with Auguste Lechaise, a French agent conspiring to invade Louisiana.

Harry Innes was involved, at the time this letter was written, in what is now termed the Spanish Conspiracy. The conspiracy involved Kentucky petitioning to become an independent state and then entering into an alliance with Spain. This would be benificial to Kentucky economically while protecting Spain's valuable colony, Mexico. This alliance plan failed after the defeat of the Jay-Gardoqui Treaty. Humphrey Marshall was born in Virginia in 1760. He worked as a surveyor and served in the Virginia Cavalry in the Revolutionary War before moving to Kentucky in 1780. After studying law, he was admitted to the bar in Fayette County.
